OAKLAND SCHOOL PLEDGE SCHOOL MISSION AND VISION STATEMENTS Mission
Oakland Primary School, the home of the Eagles, is located approximately 8 miles west of Sumter, in the state of South Carolina, and is adjacent to Shaw Air Force Base. Industry and the military provide the majority of household income in the area. Oakland Primary School has approximately 610 students in 6 pre-kindergarten, 12 kindergarten and 13 first grade classes. 40 % of our students are military. The composition of the student body is 49% African-American, 37% Caucasian and 14% other. Oakland Primary School is conveniently located close to shopping centers, medical facilities, fine restaurants, excellent housing choices, as well as, institutes of higher learning. It is a little over a 1 1/2-hour drive from the Grand Strand of South Carolina. We are also less than 40 miles from the state capital of Columbia, South Carolina. Oakland Primary School is a progressive and technologically advanced school and offers a wide range of educational experiences for our students. Each classroom is fully equipped with the latest technological innovations and teaching methodologies. The school is fully accredited by Advanced Ed, formerly the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), and the State of South Carolina. The parents of our students are welcome in our school and involved as volunteers, mentors, tutors, and actively support the school through their time and effort helping to improve school and community relationships.
